I see the point of mobile names instead of numbers. Names can be descriptive, and create a certain cachet. However, LG can take some strange sense of the title. Take Shine, Chocolate, Prada and Viewty, for example. Only Prada really says a lot to me, and all he manages to say, ‘fashion brand tie in’.

Dell XPS M1530

Aesthetically then, it should go without saying that the XPS M1530 is everything one would hope it to be. Dell has done an excellent job of translating the already excellent styling to a larger chassis, losing none of the style or sharpness that made the XPS M1330 such a popular and in demand machine. Indeed, this sums up the basic package pretty well. There’s nothing outstanding about it but there’s nothing intrinsically bad either: it’s acceptable, ordinary and mostly unremarkable. You get 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi as well as Bluetooth, with the obligatory 10/100 Ethernet and a 56k Modem present too. An 8x Super Multi DVD+/-RW drive rounds off the box ticking, as does the 13.3in, 1,280 x 800 display with a 1.3 Megapixel camera encased in the bezel. Though it’s not especially colourful or bright, it has a good and even backlight and is sharp and pleasant to use while performing everyday tasks. Qosmio X305-Q701

The Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q701 marks a new look for the Qosmio brand. Gone are the subdued blacks and silvers of years past; in their place come stylized red flames and glowing red LEDs. Also out the window are the sky-high prices of previous-generation Qosmios; the X305-Q701 costs just $1,399. Fortunately, some things haven’t changed: thanks to its four Harman Kardon speakers and built-in subwoofer, the Qosmio X305-Q701 still produces some of the best sound we’ve heard on a laptop. The 2001-05 model is the second generation of Toyota RAV4 - one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs on the market after hybrids. With its sleek sporty styling and great fuel economy, the RAV4 is a good choice if you need a small SUV. It’s also proven to be one of the most reliable in its class.
Available as two- or four-wheel drive, the RAV4 has car-based, unibody construction with transversely mounted 4-cylinder engine and a choice of five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission. MacPherson struts in the front, double-wishbone with coil springs in the rear suspension.
The RAV4 full-time 4WD system uses a viscous coupling center differential to distribute power to front and rear sets of wheels. When front wheels start slipping, more power is transferred to rear wheels and visa versa. Although this four-wheel drive system is not designed for heavy off-roading, it will offer you some advantage in bad weather.
The interior is comfortable, although the rear seat space is limited and driver’s seat feels small. Controls are conveniently located and easy to use. Rear door glass does not open separately as in Honda CR-V, but low cargo floor makes loading easier.
Handling is good, ride is rather car-like, although driving over bumps will remind you that it’s an SUV. Engine is a bit noisy and lacks highway passing power, but it’s a tradeoff for better fuel economy. [Read the rest of this entry...]
